Students at the Spruce School during recess in 1946. The school was for grades 1 through 8 and the teacher was Ruth Blackhurst who was 19 years old at the time. The lumber town of Spruce was on Cheat Mountain above Cass, W.Va. The Spruce School was in use by 1908 and closed in 1950...
